If you center 5.7 magnitude HD 222093 at low power, NGC 7723 should be visible about 20' to the west. The sketch at left presents a 190X in my 10-inch Starfinder Newtonian. NGC 7723 is centered. Its 11.2 magnitude glow is spread across a 3'.5x2' oval aligned roughly northeast-southwest. A subtly stellar core peaks out through the nebulosity. The disk of this barred spiral gives the suggestion of being brighter to the south and southwest of the core. Of the six stars sharing NGC 7723's corner of the universe, a pair of 12th magnitude GSC stars are brightest. One shines 5' to the north-northwest. The other simmers 6' to the northeast. HD 222093 is stationed outside the field of view to the east. If you have time, slew north-northeast about 43' to visit NGC 7724 and NGC 7727.
