NGC 7696: Galaxy (Pisces) RA: 23h 33.8m / DEC: +04° 52'.3
Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder

This is another faint galaxy within the Circlet asterism in Pisces. The sketch at left captures the view in my 10-inch Newtonian at 129X. NGC 7696 appears 30" in diameter, is even in brightness and displays no stellaring at the core. A 13th magnitude GSC star is visible 1'.7 to the west. Three arc minutes to the west is another magnitude 13th star. The tight little triangle of stars to the northwest range from 12th to 14th magnitude. The brightest star in the field, just inside the filed boundary 15' to the south, is 7.3 magnitude HD 221599. You'll find NGC 7696 1.7 degrees southwest of 4.1 magnitude Iota (17) Piscium.
