Herschel 400 Objects

NGC 6781: Planetary Nebula (Aquila) RA: 19h 18.5m / DEC: +06° 32'.4
Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder

NGC 6781 is an 11.4 magnitude planetary nebula in Aquila. It rests just 2.4 degrees east-northeast of 5.2 magnitude 19 Aquilae. This sketch presents a 129X (8.8 mm UWA) view in my 10-inch Newtonian. NGC 6781 covers a 90" diameter and appears diffuse with the northern half showing a substantial drop in brightness. The 16.7 magnitude central star was not observed.
