NGC 6304: Globular Cluster (Ophiuchus) RA: 17h 14.6m / DEC: -29° 27'.7 Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder |
NGC 6304 is located in southern Ophiuchus just across the border from Scorpius. You'll find this globular cluster about halfway between 4.3 magnitude 45 Ophiuchi and another bright globular, M62. My sketch depicts a 190X view in the 10-inch Starfinder. NGC 6304 features a bright 90" diameter core embedded within a 4' diameter shell. The brightest stars contributing to this globular's overall glow shine at 14.2 magnitude. None were resolved. Twenty-one field stars complete the view. |
