Eastern Virgo is home to NGC 5566, which is presented in the sketch at left. A 190X view in the 10-inch Starfinder Newtonian shows the core region of this 10.6 magnitude barred spiral. It covers a 3'x2' area. An 11th magnitude GSC star stands 1'.5 to the east. 12.4 magnitude NGC 5560 is seen about 5' northwest of NGC 5566. This edge-on SB-type galaxy is aligned roughly east-west and covers a 120"x15" area. A 14th magnitude GSC star dimly glows just 30" to the north. 8.2 magnitude HD 125505 stands sentry some 5' to the west. This bright star is paired with 9.7 magnitude SAO 120402.
