NGC 4361: Planetary Nebula (Corvus) RA: 12h 24.5m / DEC: -18° 47'.1 Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder |
Tucked away in the heart of Corvus, the Crow, NGC 4361 is a small but bright planetary nebula. It is listed with a photographic magnitude of 10.3 and, viewed at 190X in the 10-inch Starfinder, covers a 100" diameter area. The planetary has an odd shape, with the west and northwest portions being discernibly brighter and somewhet elongated. The 13.2 magnitude central star is visible as are ten 11th through 15th magnitude stars recorded in my sketch. NGC 4361 is located about 2.5 degrees southwest of 3.0 magnitude Algorab, Delta (7) Corvi. |
