NGC 3414 resides in the southeast quadrant of Leo Minor. The sketch at left captures this galaxy's appearance at 63X in the 10-inch Starfinder Newtonian. The 11.0 magnitude spiral galaxy features a bright stellar core surrounded by a 2' diameter nebulosity. Twenty-five field stars are shown in the sketch. The bright star just inside the western edge of the field is 6.0 magnitude 44 Leonis Minoris, 18' east of NGC 3414.
