NGC 1501: Planetary Nebula (Camelopardalis) RA: 04h 07.0m / DEC: +60° 55'.3
Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder

NGC 1501 is a planetary nebula in Camelopardalis. 4.0 magnitude Beta (10) Camelopardali lies about 7 degrees due east. My sketch presents a 190X view in the 10-inch Starfinder. NGC 1501 presents an annular form, 50" in diameter and noticeably fainter across the central 25" portion. The 14.3 magnitude central star is visible intermittently with averted vision. 7.5 magnitude HD 25734 is seen 10' to the east at the field boundary of my sketch. 9.4 magnitude HD 25474 burns about 9' to the northwest. Another ten stars dot the field. Most of these are 13th magnitude or fainter. While you're in the area, don't forget to check out a nearby open star cluster, NGC 1502.
