Looking Towards the Peaks: Two-minute unguided exposure on Kodak PJM 640 color print film

March 30-31, 2002: Ripples in the Flames

Again, the tallest mountains in Arizona anchor the frame. This photo shows some of the structure in the aurora. Two vertical columns reach for the stars in the upper middle portion of the picture. Also, notice the blue-white sheet to the right (east) of the peaks. This photo was taken just a few minutes after midnight. By now, I was pleasantly surprised a police officer hadn't stopped to investigate why an Isuzu Rodeo was parked on the sidewalk. That was the only way I could get access to the field where the photos were taken.
