|NGC 2185: Reflection Nebula (Monoceros) RA: 06h 11.0m / DEC: -06° 13'.6|
Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder
This is one of several reflection nebulae stashed in a little corner of Monoceros. My sketch renders the view in the 10-inch Starfinder Newtonian at 129X. NGC 2185 is centered. A 7th magnitude star, GSC 4795:509, lies at the heart of the nebulosity. The nebula extends to the southwest over a 5'x2'.5 area, which includes a collection of 6 faint stars. Nearby NGC 2183 was not seen. Look for NGC 2185 about 1 degree due west of 4.0 magnitude Gamma (5) Monocerotis.
