If you're looking for one site on the Web with reliable information on a broad range of subjects related to astronomy, the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) website is a great place to start. SEDS is a student-based organization that promotes space exploration through public education. They host sites offering information on a wide variety of topics of interest to amateur astronomers, including Bill Arnett's Nine Planets solar system tour; the history of deep-sky observation; the Messier catalog; the William Herschel catalog; and Dreyer's New General Catalog, the NGC.

Bookmark SEDS and you'll have a reliable resource you can turn to for many of your questions about visual astronomy of the deep-sky.

If you would like to recommend a site, email me at wdferris1@gmail.com with the URL and I'll consider adding it to my favorites.
