NGC 7217: Face-on Spiral Galaxy (Pegasus) RA: 22h 07.9m / DEC: +31° 21'.6
Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder

NGC 7217 is a delicate galaxy in northwestern Pegasus. It is positioned about 2 degrees south of 4.3 magnitude Pi (29) Pegasi. My sketch presents the view in my 10-inch Starfinder Newtonian at 190X and shows a 3' diameter fuzz patch. The central 1' is brighter than the outer portion and the galaxy features a stellar nucleus. 10th magnitude GSC 2720:684 is visible 3' to the southeast. This Sb-type spiral has a visual magnitude of 10.1 and a decent surface brightness of 21.5 magnitude per square arc second.
