NGC 7209: Open Star Cluster (Lacerta) RA: 22h 05.2m / DEC: +46° 30'.0
Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder

Thirty-five faint stars tightly grouped within a triangle of brighter stars are the centerpiece of the sketch at left. This fine open star cluster covers a 24' diameter area, according to Lynga, and shines with an integrated visual magnitude of 7.7. Of the three stars framing NGC 7209, the brightest is 6.2 magnitude HD 209857, seen about 15' northeast of the center of the field. The other two stars shine at 8th magnitude and are separated by 16'.5 along the southwest edge of the cluster. Another 32 stars are recorded in the sketch, which presents a 36X view in my 10-inch, f/4.5 reflector. You'll find NGC 7209 2.7 degrees due west of 4.6 magnitude 2 Lacertae.
