NGC 7142 is centered in the sketch at left. At 82X in the 10-inch Starfinder, this 9.3 magnitude open star cluster covers a 6' diameter area. Seventeen 13th magnitude stars stand shrouded within the faint glow of myriad unresolved cluster members. A pair of 10th magnitude stars flank the northern face of the cluster. 8.5 magnitude HD 207416 stands 8'.5 to the north. The view is framed by 38 field stars. You'll find NGC 7142 about 2 degrees northwest of 4.3 magnitude Xi Cephei.
