NGC 6834 is stationed along the Cygnus/Vulpecula border. The closest bright star is the exquisite double, Albireo, 5 degrees to the southwest at the foot of the Northern Cross. 5.4 magnitude 9 Cygni lies about 4 degrees due west of the cluster. My drawing renders the view at 129X in the 10-inch Starfinder Newtonian. The cluster is centered with a band of seven 11th through 13th magnitude stars running east-west through the core over a distance of 6 arc minutes. Another 13 cluster members are scattered within a 3' radius of the core. A pair of bright GSC stars are seen near the southwest field boundary. Thirty-three field stars complete the view.
