NGC/IC Objects

NGC 6712: Globular Star Cluster (Scutum) RA: 18h 53.1m / DEC: -08° 42'.4
Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder

We are now in eastern Scutum. NGC 6712 is presented in the sketch at left. This 8.1 magnitude globular star cluster covers a 6' diameter area at 82X in the 10-inch Starfinder. About 40 field stars populate the view. You'll find this little treasure about 2 degrees northeast of the fine open star cluster, M26.
