You will find NGC 6355 about 1.4 degrees south of 3.3 magnitude Theta (42) Ophiuchi. This 8.6 magnitude globular star cluster is pictured at left in a sketch which renders a 129X view in my 10-inch Newtonian. NGC 6355 covers a 3' diameter area with no member stars resolved. This is not surprising considering that the horizontal branch stars weigh in at a paltry 17.2 magnitude. The field stars in the sketch number 13. The brightest of these is 8.9 magnitude HD 157381, 7'.5 north of the globular.
