NGC 615 is one of several bright galaxies residing near 3.6 magnitude Theta (45) Ceti. This galaxy's appearance is captured in the sketch at left, made at 129X using my 10-inch, f/4.5 Newtonian. NGC 615 is visible near the center of the sketch, about 3 degrees northeast from Theta Ceti and 5' east of 9.3 magnitude HD 9691. This 11.6 magnitude galaxy is elongated northwest-to-southeast covering a 120"x60" area. A trio of 14th magnitude GSC stars is visible near the northern boundary of the field. NGC 636 resides about 1 degree to the east.
