Herschel 400 Objects

NGC 4800: Galaxy (Canes Venatici) RA: 12h 54.6m / DEC: +46° 31'.9
Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder

This little gem is located in the Hunting Dogs, Canes Venatici. The sketch at left presents the appearance in my 10-inch, f/4.5 Newtonian at 82X. NGC 4800 is centered, it's 60"x50" form arranged along a rough north-south line. The 11.5 magnitude star city features a bright, stellaring at the core. Two bright stars shine to the north. 7.5 magnitude HD 112220 stands 15' due north. 7.4 magnitude HD 112082 lies an equal distance to the northwest. The field is dotted by another 11 stars.
