NGC 4559: Barred Spiral Galaxy (Coma Berenices) RA: 12h 36.0m / DEC: +27° 57'.6
Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder

NGC 4559 is presented in the sketch at left, which was made at 129X with my 10-inch, f/4.5 Newtonian. The 10.0 magnitude Sc-type galaxy is spread across a 4'x3' area and aligned northwest-to-southeast. The loose spiral structure produces a diffuse, misty form. Three stars, 11th through 13th magnitude, hem in the southeast end. Another 13 field stars frame the view. You'll find this fine specimen 2.0 degrees north of the great NGC 4565.
