NGC 4526: Galaxy (Virgo) RA: 12h 34.0m / DEC: +07° 42'.0 Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder |
This fine little galaxy is wedged between a pair of bright stars in central Virgo. NGC 4526 is located 2.8 degrees due west of 5.2 magnitude 32 Virginis. This sketch, based on a 129X view in my 10-inch, shows a 5'x2' oval surrounding a brighter core region. The 9.7 magnitude spiral is oriented east-northwest to west-southeast. It is inclined only slightly at about 6-degrees. 6.8 magnitude HD 109417 lies 7' to the east and 7.0 magnitude HD 109285 resides 7'.5 to the west. NGC 4535 is just beyond the northern boundary of the eyepiece field. |
