NGC 4429 is located about 2 degrees south of M84 and M86 in Virgo. This 10.0 magnitude Sa-type galaxy is featured in the sketch at left, which captures a 190X view in the 10-inch. My sketch shows a 4'x2' oval arranged west-northwest by east-southeast. NGC 4429 displays an elongated, much brighter core region but no hint of spiral structure. A 9.1 magnitude star, HD 108438, is immediately adjacent to the north. Five arcminutes to the south, 9.2 magnitude HD 108453 smolders. Another four field stars complete the drawing.
