NGC 4314: Spiral Galaxy (Coma Berenices) RA: 12h 22.5m / DEC: +29° 53'.8 Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder |
NGC 4314 makes its home in Coma Berenices in the same neighborhood as NGC 4274 and NGC 4278. NGC 4314 is found about 39' northeast of NGC 4274. The drawing at left is based on an 82X view in my 10-inch Meade Starfinder. This 10.5 magnitude barred spiral is elongated northwest-to-southeast over a 4'x2' area. A 14th magnitude GSC star marks the northwestern tip. Another 14 field stars complete the view. |
