This fine trio resides in northern Coma Berenices about 2 degrees northwest of 4.4 magnitude Gamma (15) Comae Berencies. My drawing captures their appearance in my 10-inch Newtonian at 82X. NGC 4274 is seen just a few arc minutes inside the northern boundary of the eyepiece field. This 10.4 magnitude barred spiral covers a 4'x2' area, is elongated east-to-west, and features a stellaring at the core. NGC 4278 is the brightest of the three with a visual magnitude of 10.2. Its 3' diameter form is visible just inside the southern field boundary. This elliptical also displays a stellar core. NGC 4283, a 1' diameter elliptical galaxy, is seen about 4' west of NGC 4278. NGC 4283 is the faintest of the three at 12.0 magnitude.
