NGC 3962: Elliptical Galaxy (Crater) RA: 11h 54.7m / DEC: -13° 58'.4 Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder |
Just across the border from Corvus in far eastern Crater, NGC 3962 waits to be found. This 10.6 magnitude elliptical galaxy is positioned a skosh more than 3 degrees due north of 5.2 magnitude Eta (30) Crateris. The view in my 10-inch Newtonian at 129X reveals a 1' diameter object with no discernible brightening at the core. A pair of 10th and 11th magnitude stars stand sentry 3' to the south. |
