This fine, bright galaxy is tucked away in the southeast corner of Leo Minor. NGC 3344 is a 9.9 magnitude Sc-type spiral galaxy. The sketch at left presents the view at 82X in my 10-inch Newtonian. The 4' diameter oval is visible near the center of the field. A 13th magnitude GSC star is visible against the eastern edge of the disk. The GSC star 6' to the southwest shines in the neighborhood of 9th magnitude. 5.1 magnitude 41 Leonis Minoris, 1.8 degrees due south, marks the location of this impressive galaxy.
