NGC 3115: Lenticular Galaxy (Sextans) RA: 10h 05.2m / DEC: -07° 43'.1 Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder |
The southeastern corner of Sextans is home to this lenticular galaxy. NGC 3115 is presented in the sketch at left, which renders an 82X view in the 10-inch Starfinder. This 8.9 magnitude sliver of light covers a 4'x1' area with the western edge being discernibly brighter. It is oriented along a northeast-southwest axis with four stars bordering the galaxy to the south and east. You'll find this lenticular galaxy about 3 degrees east of 5.0 magnitude Gamma Sextantis. |
