NGC 2683: Galaxy (Lynx) RA: 08h 52.7m / DEC: +33° 25'.1
Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder

This 9.7 magnitude Sb-type galaxy is stationed in southern Lynx just across the border from Cancer. The nearest bright star is 5.4 magnitude Sigma2 (59) Cancri, about a degree to the southeast. My sketch presents NGC 2693 as it appears at 129X in the 10-inch Newtonian. The galaxy is quite elongated, covering a 7'x1' area and aligned roughly southwest-to-northeast. A pencil thin inner bright region extends nearly 3' through the core. Notice the 13th magnitude GSC at the northeast tip of the disk. A second GSC star, 11th magnitude, is shown about 2'.5 to the south. Another 25 stars dot the field. 6.2 magnitude HD 75332 is just outside the field of view, half-a-degree to the west.
