NGC 2655: Galaxy (Camelopardalis) RA: 08h 55.6m / DEC: +78° 13'.5
Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder

The sketch at left presents NGC 2655, centered in the rendering which is based on the view in my 10-inch Newt at 190X. This SO/Sa-type galaxy covers a 4'.5x4'.0 area and has an integrated visual magnitude of 10.1. This gives NGC 2655 a fairly high surface brightness. The brighter, slightly elongated core region is embedded within a diffuse galactic disk, which gradually dims toward the outer edge. 7.3 magnitude HD 75544 is at the eastern field boundary, about 10' southeast of the galaxy. Another 20 field stars complete the portrait.
