Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder
NGC 6830 offers a dusting of stars against the summer sky. This 7.9 magnitude open cluster is centered in the sketch at left. About 35 members are seen in the 10-inch Starfinder at 129X. These range from 9th to 13th magnitude. A diamond asterism of four 9th through 11th magnitude stars dominate the southern half of the cluster. Another 35 stars frame this summer beauty. Look for NGC 6830 about 2 degrees west of the magnificent M27.
