|NGC 559: Open Star Cluster (Cassiopeia) RA: 01h 29.5m / DEC: +63° 18'.5|
Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder
NGC 559 is presented in the sketch at left, a rendering of a 129X view in my 10-inch Starfinder Newtonian. The cluster is positioned just west of center in my drawing. Fourteen member stars are shown bathed in the delicate glow emitted by scores of unresolved stars. This misty patch covers a 5' diameter area. A knot of six 10th and 11th magnitude GSC stars is coiled west of the cluster. 7.5 magnitude HD 9105 stands 12'.5 east of NGC 559 with his entourage of five 10th through 12th magnitude stars. NGc 559 is gathered about 3 degrees west of 3.4 magnitude Segin, Epsilon (45) Cassiopeiae. Pretty little M103 resides 2.7 degrees to the south.
