|NGC 5363 & NGC 5364: Galaxy Pair (Virgo) RA: 13h 56.2m / DEC: +05° 08'.9|
Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder
This pair is located in north-central Virgo, 3.8 degrees north-northwest of 4.3 magnitude Tau (93) Virginis. NGC 5363 appears as a 2'x1' oval with a stellar nucleus. 8.1 magnitude HD 121605 stands sentry near the 10.2 magnitude galaxy's northeastern edge. The sketch at left, based on an 82X view in my 10-inch Newtonian, shows NGC 5364 just 14' to the south. This 10.6 magnitude Sc-type galaxy covers a 4'x3' area and is aligned northeast-to-southwest. An 11th magnitude GSC star crowds the galaxy's northwest edge. Eleven additional field stars complete the portrait.
