Instrument: 10-inch Starfinder
Central Virgo is home to this fine elliptical galaxy. The sketch at left renders the view at 129X in my 10-inch Meade Starfinder Newtonian. NGC 4365 appears as a 4'x3' oval elongated northeast-to-southwest. There is noticeable brightening around the core. This inner area covers 120"x30" along the same axis. The galaxy is wedged between a pair of 10th and 11th magnitude GSC stars, the brighter of the two stationed 5'.4 to the southeast.
